Ribbit Romance
Monday, October 20th, 2008 | Drawings, Jimsan | 3 Comments
I thought it would be fun to offer people a glimpse as to how I go about most of my drawings. This is done digitally with an intuos, but the same technique is generally applied to paper by using light strokes and lots of eraser. I tend to mess around with the composition using very rough skeletons of the basic objects. When I’m happy with where things are, I’ll start to flesh out the details little by little.

Dislocation

A sketch of my hand. The picture was taken upside down intentionally. 😉 I’ll try this again at a later date. Perhaps when I’m not being distracted often and having to guess which perspective I was viewing my hand.

Turtle Study

A little anatomy study of the turtle. They’re a lot more complex than they might lead you to believe!

Frog revisited

After studying more frog anatomy this morning, I drew this with no reference this evening. Pardon the inaccurate anatomy. I also did some drawing in class today, which I’m tacking on as well.

A rough draft of a magazine ad for my media sales course. The details are inconsequential. <g>
Taken with iPhone so not that crazy quality. (Bottom ad copy trimmed)

Nothing to show for

I spent about 45 minutes in class touching up and adding ‘shading’ to one of my copper plates after taking it out of the acid. I attempted to take a picture of it with my iPhone, but the light reflection off the copper made it largely impossible to see. If I can’t get a good shot of the plate itself, I’ll take a picture of a print I make from it.

Repairing the Nimabot

This drawing began as simple shapes and, using cheap tracing paper, was refined 5 times to come out with the final product shown here. This is the third part of a three part series for my printmaking course. This will be etched into a copper plate, bathed in acid, and printed several times.
