All right, just to get ahead of the game, I’ll post the drawings I’ve made so far today. This includes my first color drawing for this blog ever!!

- 20.75/1000 (A non-existent type of equine)
6 Days of Scribbles

A huge apology to everyone, particularly Steve and Jimsan. I dropped the ball in a kind of huge way. To make up for it, I’ll put the past week’s scribbles all in one post. Today’s drawings will come along later in their own post. Enjoy!

Back to My Roots
Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 | Abstract, Drawings, Felix, Life-Drawing | No Comments
Since I’ve only posted more or less finished images to this blog, I thought I’d post these two “in progress” drawings that I drew but that were never finished. I would have finished them, but it was one of those situations where you’re putting a sneaky eye on people and drawing them surreptitiously. I didn’t want to make a fuss when they got up and left.
The third piece is something else, an abstraction that took me a while. I think Steve was joking, but he told me I should go back to doing abstractions. 😉
- 10.15/1000 (In front of me on the bus, got off two stops later)
- 10.5/1000 (Second stage drawing, across the hall)
- 12/1000 (Abstraction in a natural vein)
Catching Up
Monday, October 20th, 2008 | Drawings, Felix, Life-Drawing | No Comments
Whew! Sorry about not posting over the weekend, folks. I’ve retroactively added my drawings for those days (I wasn’t slacking! Too much…). Today’s is another one somewhere between memory drawing and making it up as I went. The essence of it is, I wanted to draw a female nude, but didn’t have any nude women handy when I wanted to (I was riding the bus.) Cheers!
- 10/1000 (Imaginary woman au naturel)
Chopper

Not much to tell, here. Just a motorcycle I drew while waiting for a friend to finish eating lunch. It was parked by the side of the road. You can tell from the way I fudged the shapes in the middle that technical drawing is not my strong suit.Â
- 9.25/1000 (Ink and graphite, as per the usual)
Fir Cone
Saturday, October 18th, 2008 | Drawings, Felix, Life-Drawing | No Comments
It was winding here, and raining, and the other things it does when it’s grey and a bit chilly. I was sitting outside, waiting, when it struck me that I hadn’t done my drawing for the day. Looking around for something to draw, I found this cone, which turned out to have a neat sort of pattern that I became especially aware of as I drew it.
- 8.5/1000 (Fir cone from a wet day)
More Life Drawing
Friday, October 17th, 2008 | Drawings, Felix, Life-Drawing | No Comments
I’m fairly happy with “Rachel,” but “Nate” isn’t looking so good. Not sure what I did wrong while I was drawing it, but it’s partly just that I was working with a fatter-tipped pen and it got scribbly. C’est la vie.
- 7.5/1000 (Thicker pen and graphite, life drawing)
- 8/1000 (Scribbly pen and pencil)
Life Drawing – iPod Shuffle
Thursday, October 16th, 2008 | Drawings, Felix, Life-Drawing | No Comments
So, my main goal for this 1000 hour drawing project is to become better at drawing from life and observation rather than from my own preconceived notions of what various things look like. For things that I draw frequently, I have a template in my head of what things are supposed to look like, and my drawings reflect it.
More observation and less filling in the blanks is the order of the day.
- 7/1000 (Bus drawing of my hand + iPod)
Autumn in Seattle
Thursday, October 16th, 2008 | Drawings, Felix | No Comments
Since Steve was talking about about memory drawing, I thought I’d take a swing at it this morning. The weather’s been crisper here, and autumn is one of my favorite seasons in Seattle. I made up these two characters to illustrate the quintessential joy of the season — the return of the rain and the changing leaves.Â
Calling this memory drawing is a bit of a stretch, though. It’s more “loosely inspired by people I know” than trying to draw anyone or anything in particular from my head.Â
- 6.5/1000 (Autumn Rain concept drawing)
