Algernon & The Feral

This one was a challenge drawing, since I normally shy away from drawing anything with action in it at all. This one’s not quite as dynamic as it could be, but it was still a lot of fun. I guess I’m on a coloring kick today, also…
Halloween & Sort-of Horses

All right, just to get ahead of the game, I’ll post the drawings I’ve made so far today. This includes my first color drawing for this blog ever!!
6 Days of Scribbles
Wednesday, October 29th, 2008 | Drawings, Felix | No Comments
A huge apology to everyone, particularly Steve and Jimsan. I dropped the ball in a kind of huge way. To make up for it, I’ll put the past week’s scribbles all in one post. Today’s drawings will come along later in their own post. Enjoy!
Blendy

Working on some blending from The Big Book of Drawing. I’m finding that blending with a tissue takes a lot of effort. I should get some better blending stuffs.

Etching

I resketched and etched Mr. Frog on copper today, adding a bunch of minor details. Copper isn’t the best material to photograph.

Draw by number

This is the first exercise in Lee Hammond’s Big Book of Drawing, where you draw a mixed up jigsaw puzzle of pieces into the correct spots, which turns out to be an upside-down horse, to prove to you that you are capable of drawing. I’ve done these before, but this one seemed kind of ridiculous with the 60 pieces, so I went and drew it right in the book. Heh. Took me a lot longer than it would have taken me if I was just drawing it from an upside-down copy, but probably more correct. I don’t like the idea of carrying a grid around with me to do this kind of visual work, but the results are easy to see.

Eye try
Monday, October 27th, 2008 | Drawings, Jimsan | No Comments
I didn’t have time to draw during vacation (the abstract car doodles left something to be desired), but I’m back. I’m not finished with my Halloween illustration, but I decided to do a bit of eye study tonight.
